AWS First Region in the Middle East

Introduction

Despite the fact, the AWS ha regions over all the world, however, the Middle East region was lacking any, and we had in most of the cases to host our clients under Frankfurt or Singapore regions, which is still not serving the minimum latency as having local hosting.

 

AWS Bahrain

The first AWS Region in the Middle East is now open and it is available for you. The official name is Middle East (Bahrain) and the API name is me-south-1. With this launch, the AWS Cloud now spans 69 Availability Zones within 22 geographic regions around the world. The Middle East (Bahrain) Region consists of three Availability Zones (AZ’s). Having three Availability Zones enables Middle East organizations to meet business continuity and disaster recovery requirements and also build highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable applications.

among the standard services, the most needed ones were Cloudfront and Direct Connect, with Cloudfront, tow new edge locations are already operational in two cities in the Middle East (Dubai, and Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates). with Direct Connect, you can connect your on-premises environment with AWS using fiber connection which gives up to 10GB connection!.

Amazon EventBridge

The University of Bahrain introduces cloud computing degree program in the Middle East with AWS Educate, The new one-year Cloud Computing 101 certificate will launch at the beginning of 2020, and will initially be available for UOB’s students in the colleges of engineering, information and computer technologies, and business, they will be offered across all degree courses by 2021. The four-year bachelor’s degree in cloud computing will be introduced in the fall semester of 2020 and will equip students with technical skills and hands-on experiences to prepare them for careers including cloud architecture, cybersecurity, software development, and DevOps.
