AWS Outposts is now available

Introduction:

Many customers who need local processing and very low latency. in addition they no longer need to spend time creating detailed hardware specifications, soliciting & managing bids from multiple disparate vendors, or racking & stacking individual servers, this is now achievable by using aws outposts.

What is AWS Outposts?

Its a new fully managed service that extends AWS infrastructure, AWS services, APIs, and tools to virtually any customer datacenter, co-location space, or on-premises facility for a truly consistent hybrid experience. It is ideal for workloads that need low latency access to on-premises applications or systems, local data processing, or for local data storage needs.

What are the available services with AWS Outposts?

Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, container-based services such as Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS, database services such as Amazon RDS, and analytics services such as Amazon EMR locally on your Outposts. You can seamlessly connect to the broad range of services and tools available in the local AWS Region such as Amazon DynamoDB, AWS CloudFormation, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Elastic BeanStalk, Cloud 9, and others to run and manage workloads on Outposts the same way as you do in the cloud today.

 

 

How does it work?

You place your order online, take delivery, and relax while trained AWS technicians install, connect, set up, and verify your Outposts.

To order your Outpost, you can log-in to the AWS Management Console and select from a range of pre-validated Outposts configurations offering a mix of Amazon EC2 and Amazon EBS capacity that best suits your application needs and site characteristics.
Outposts infrastructure is delivered, installed, managed, and monitored by AWS, removing the need to manually administer, upgrade, and patch your on-premises infrastructure.

Once installed, AWS takes care of monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading your Outposts. All of the hardware is modular and can be replaced in the field without downtime. When you need more processing or storage, or want to upgrade to newer generations of EC2 instances, you can initiate the request with a couple of clicks and AWS will take care of the rest.

 

Is it everywhere?

Outposts can be installed and operated in the following countries: the United States of America, all EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
